Follow the model trains while they meander through miniature West Cork.

The Model Village would be nothing without the model trains. Every day the eight g-scale trains travel around the miniature replica of the West Cork Railway line. The model engines and goods carriages are typical 1940 style. The miniature railway has been running since 1994 and run all day every day in all weathers!

How do the miniature trains run?

The railway in the Model Village is a G-gauge scale railway and runs on live track 0-24 VDC.

Each train is controlled by computer and run on a “first come first served” logic. The trains use electric motors with pick-up shoes that pick up the power from the track. Because of this the 500 metres of track has to be cleaned daily to remove tarnish.
